The Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara is world famous for its exceptional wildlife and iconic landscapes. During your safari, you will have the opportunity to experience the great migration of herbivores, such as zebra, antelope and wildebeest, which head north from the Serengeti Plain between July and September. During December and January, the phenomenon reverses with the migration that goes from Masai Mara to the Serengeti park. These months offer an amazing opportunity to see big cats on the hunt or watch their prey being consumed by hyenas and vultures. The park also offers the option of breakfasts and lunches in the savannah or a sunrise hot air balloon safari for a panoramic view. You can also visit a typical Maasai village to learn about their culture and traditions.
Overview
Day 1
Your adventure begins with a private flight from Malindi to Masai Mara Airport, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the stunning African landscapes. After landing, the first “Game Drive” immediately begins to explore the reserve and spot wildlife. Afterwards, arrive at the lodge or tented camp for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, the second “Game Drive” starts and will take you until sunset. The evening ends with a buffet dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
After a breakfast at dawn, the third “Game Drive” begins to discover the savannah during the early hours of the morning. Return to the lodge or tented camp for lunch, then, in the afternoon, the return flight to Malindi departs. Estimated arrival at your resort around 6pm.
Important Notes
Masai Mara is Kenya’s largest reserve, with an extensive network of tracks making it easier to get close to the animals. You will have the opportunity to see the great wildebeest migration and visit some Maasai villages during your trip. The SALIM guide will accompany you throughout the safari, and the vehicles are equipped with a sunroof to ensure a panoramic view during the “Game Drive.”
