The Mida Creek Boardwalk , located south of Watamu, is a natural marine inlet with a depth of approximately 5 km, known for its unique fauna and flora. This area is characterized by labyrinths of waterways and is one of the largest mangrove ecosystems in the world. The warm and shallow waters of Mida Creek offer refuge to numerous birds of prey, storks, herons and pink flamingos.
There are several ways to explore this area and discover its mangroves and rich birdlife. One of the options is the Mida Creek Boardwalk, a walking excursion that will take you along the “Indiana Jonas Bridge”, a wooden bridge completely suspended between the mangroves that extends for about 200 meters, crossing a part of the lagoon.
During the excursion, you will have the opportunity to admire the multi-coloured birds flitting among the mangroves, explore the maze of canals and immerse yourself in the enchanting and primordial beauty of this unique landscape.
